Our SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) course is CITB accredited and delivered by our qualified and experienced course instructors.
Bigsunny Services Training run the course to meet the needs of its delegates and it is delivered over 5 consecutive days or on a day release schedule (weekdays and weekends).
This a five-day course which provides project managers, site managers and supervisors, business proprietors and client-based personnel with the knowledge and skills to enable them to ensure healthy and safe conditions for construction site employees.
The United Kingdom Contractors Group (UKCG) recognises this course as meeting the required standard for all managers working on UKCG sites.

Who is the Course For?
The 5 day Site Manager Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) course is one of the suite of Site Safety Plus courses and it is aimed at individuals with management and supervisory responsibilities (business owners, project & site managers, supervisors and clients) on a construction site.
The course covers all relevant health and safety legislation, CDM Regulations (2015) and ‘best practice’ impacting safe operation on a construction/building site and the civil engineering industry.
The cost of the course includes all necessary publications, registration, and certification.

Accreditation & Recognition
This training course is accredited by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and recognised as meeting the required standard for all supervisors working on BUILDUK sites.
Successful completion of the SMSTS course will result in the award of a CITB Construction Skills Certificate of Training which will remain valid for a period of 5 years. Before the five year period expires you will need to undertake a SMSTS Refresher in order to maintain your certification.
Our SMSTS course tutors are qualified and experienced health and safety professionals, with extensive experience in Construction and Risk Management.
All SRP Trainers hold numerous health and safety qualifications such as the NEBOSH General Certificate, and the NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health & Safety which is well above the required industry standard to ensure that the delivery of the course is to the highest standard.
This course is highly interactive and will be taught with case studies, group work and presentations. Candidates will also need to do some self-study outside of the course.
The examination for the SMSTS course will be a multiple choice exam at the end. Successful candidates will be provided with a course completion letter and certificates will be issued by CITB within 4 weeks).
If you are unsuccessful, there is a possibility to be eligible for another exam on the day provided you reach above 71% but under 80% (pass mark). This resit is free of charge. If the candidate achieves less than 71%, the full course must be undertaken again.
Renewals: The SMSTS course Certificate is valid for 5 years and after this, candidates can undertake a 2 day refresher course to maintain the certificate for a further 5 years.

Is this course accredited?
Yes, it is accredited by the CITB which stands for the Construction Industry Training Board for short.
Are there any prerequisites for the Course?
There are no prerequisites for the course, but all delegates are expected to already have a valid CSCS card.
What are the hours of the course?
The hours are 9:30am to 5:30pm for both weekend and weekday courses approximately.
Can I come in and see you face to face as that would give me peace of mind?
Yes, absolutely we encourage our customers to have a face to face discussion with us regarding their training course and training needs.
This puts your mind at ease so you know you are dealing with real people and a real business that will give you the best service possible.
It will also give you the opportunity to meet some staff members or even your trainer if they are not delivering training at the time of your visit.
What if I don’t have time to visit and have a face to face meeting before the Training dates?
We understand that everyone does not have time to do this, so the next best thing is to have a discussion of whatever questions, queries, or concerns you have with one of our training course administrators.
Is a grant available?
The CITB grants are available for companies who are registered for Grant And Levy scheme. For the SMSTS Course, subject to CITB approval, you may be able to claim back £50 per day your candidate is on the SMSTS course. This equates to £250.
The process for the grant is straightforward. The candidate must provide the Company Name, Registered address and CITB Levy number. These details will be collected on the first day of the course on the delegate notification form.
Once received, CITB will then process the claim as per their procedure. SRP Training is not responsible for the actual claim and as such once the details have been provided, the company must contact CITB for any updates or queries.
